Lapin Capital was founded in 2019 by Julio Coelho, CFA, with the purpose of identifying undervalued companies on the stock exchange that often go unnoticed by large investment funds. Before founding Lapin, Julio built his career in investment banking, debt capital markets (DCM), and mergers and acquisitions (M&A), in São Paulo and London.
Since its inception, Lapin has followed the value investing philosophy, with a contrarian approach to market consensus. Its strategy focuses on smaller companies (small caps), special situations, spin-offs, companies with hidden assets, merger arbitrage, companies undergoing changes in capital allocation, and high-quality businesses that compound consistently over the long term, acquired at a discount.
